06.07.13 IronWoMan Ride

June 11th, 2013

IronWoMan – Woman of Stihl.  No, not me; that would be the other one.  I had to wait and hold Clem (Delicate Flare and all) while she cleared brush out of the trail so Winston – Pocket Pony could get up the trail.  She’s pretty good at it too, but boy is she slow.  We tried not to complain but we failed.

We had a great and uneventful ride; we opted for the out and back rather than a loop.  The weather was fantastic.  There were a few spots where the horseflies were bad but overall, insects weren’t a big concern.  We didn’t see a single automobile, but did pass a horse & rider who seemed terribly unnerved by Scout, then by us.  They were both male so I didn’t waste time trying to figure out what the problem was.  Possibilities were endless and I had better things to fill my day, like riding.  The trail was VERY overgrown and poor Winston could barely find his way in several spots, but somehow we made it.

Here’s the pictures from the day.  I forgot about having my killer-camera, aka S3, with me until we were done.  Otherwise I would have taken more and hopefully BETTER shots.  Oh well, maybe next time.

So, Is Anybody Riding Now?

July 20th, 2012

Obviously, I’m not riding much lately.  Once the mercury gets close to 90 and the humidity gets thick enough that a machete is needed to hack a way thru, I am not nearly as motivated to do anything outside, even riding.  It has cooled off a little with the recent much-needed rain, but it’s still pretty humid.  I can’t even blame it on the nuptials of my best riding buddy.  Wait, did I say best? » Read more: So, Is Anybody Riding Now?

06.15.12 Fox Turtle Lollipop Ride

June 16th, 2012

Trekked over to Carter County Tennessee to ride on Holston Mountain.  Definitely is beautiful country.  46 miles from Exit 17 to the mouth of the hollow(holler) where we rode.  It took us about an hour and a half to get there, but it is good road all the way.  We were a troop of five teams:  Regina / Tango, Laura / Toasty, Debra / Clem, Walker / Banjo Triple-heart, me / Sir Winston.  We arrived pretty close to on-time at the Coon Club lot / trailhead at 1000a. » Read more: 06.15.12 Fox Turtle Lollipop Ride

05.05.12 Chamomile Fashion Derby Update

May 8th, 2012

FINALLY, I got the pics from the Olympic candidates.  So, the album has been updated with those pics for a complete view of the day.  Not sure how, but we neglected to take any photos of our delicious lunch.  Note to self:  do better on food coverage; it is essential and one of my favorite parts, of any day.

The album is here.

05.05.12 Chamomile Fashion Derby

Churchill Downs has their hats, pies, and mint juleps, and we cannot begin to compete with those.  However, we have our own fashion statements, such as the dual raincoats, where the full length slicker is worn under » Read more: 05.05.12 Chamomile Fashion Derby
